Onion which is known as the basic vegetable for Poor’s is now a days became the hot topic for political discussions. Although it is not the main part of rich households. But it is not the concern of our today’s news.Today we will talk about that onion which was a normal topic of kitchen and it’s now valued as the ‘Special’ one. Onion prices which used to be between 20 to 30 rupees per kg, is presently sold at 80 to 100 Rupees per kg.
This is not the first time when onion prices has been a big trouble for both citizens and politicians. 1980, 1998, 2010, 2013 and 2015 was those major years when onion prices were at its peak. 2019 is one of such years where onion prices has seen drastic fluctuations. It has not just caused problem to normal people but political parties has used it for their gain. Present governments has even opened cheap onion sector for citizens, so that they get saved from malignation of masses.

Profiteering is the main reason behind the less availability and production of onions. As per experts, droughts was observed in June and July in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Due to which farmers was either unable to seed the onions or who ever planted it was unable to fertilize it because of water shortage.
